About Doc Alliance: DOC ALLIANCE The New Deal for Feature Documentaries Doc Alliance is a partnership which emerged as a result of the co-operative effort of five key European documentary film festivals – CPH:DOX Copenhagen, DOK Leipzig, IDFF Jihlava, Planete Doc Review Warsaw and VISIONS DU REEL Nyon. The aim of the Doc Alliance initiative is to support the diversity of feature documentaries and to convince audiences of the fascinating, moving and instructive aspects of the cinéma du reel where reality surpasses fiction and becomes spectacular.

Doc Alliance was born with the awareness that new initiatives are needed to promote remarkable films to a general market that is less permeable to their circulation and commercialisation and to approach various audiences in every conceivable manner, ranging from cinema, television, DVD to VOD, and other networks. Its objective is to create an inventive and dynamic distribution platform for filmmakers and producers by offering attractive alternatives, debates, choices and perspectives.

Doc Alliance presents:

DOC ALLIANCE SELECTION represents five high-quality films, one selected by each of the Doc Alliance festival partners. The films tour at the five Festivals starting at VISIONS DU REEL Nyon. At the end of the year an international jury decides about the “Doc Alliance Award” and the Award is handed over during selected festival. The five national markets support the films at their festivals and in their theatrical, TV and DVD distribution.

About Doc Alliance Films:
DOCALLIANCEFILMS.COM is an online portal of Doc Alliance for Video on Demand offering permanent access to 400 outstanding documentaries selected by the five partner festivals. Twenty new films are added monthly and these can be acquired through streaming or download.

Doc Alliance Films is an online platform for the distribution of documentary and experimental films which was launched by a new initiative for documentary films called DOC ALLIANCE. The aim is to promote creative documentary films on a general market that is less permeable to their circulation and commercialization and systematically support the distribution of documentary films through their festival markets and online platform.

Doc Alliance Films follows up the tradition of the Doc-Air portal, an initiative powered by International Documentary Film Festival Jihlava, which was launched in August 2006. During its existence, the portal gathered more than 400 documentary and experimental films and built a unique space for creative documentary films available to both wide audiences and professionals all around the world.

The films you can find on the Doc Alliance Films platform are selected by festival programme committees, which focus on films with both social and aesthetic value – searching for films which deal with strong issues and do not resign from aesthetic qualities and a unique style at the same time. Moreover, the platform is open to any kind of cinematic innovations, progressive and provocative docs stimulating an open dialogue between the authors and their audience.

Doc Alliance Films offers a selection of important contemporary documentary films from all over the world with an accent on European cinematography. However, not only the contemporary, but also archive documentary films and the greatest documentary works of the past are available on the portal, which thus aspires to become an archive as well. Films by established masters as Ulrich Seidl, Jørgen Leth, Peter Mettler or Helena Třeštíková, by new talents and also students’ films are very welcome at Doc Alliance Films.

Legally and for a minimum fee, you can watch or buy a film by mere playing or downloading it in one of the three offered formats.

Filmmakers and producers (distributors) as well as students are welcome to register their film and try to give it space on the Doc Alliance Films portal. Contact us if you are interested.

Jihlava IDFF Jihlava IDFF, the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival is one of the most significant festivals of creative documentary in Central and Eastern Europe. Presenting films of daring themes and distinct authorial style, its essential effort is to lead a dialogue with both these films and their authors. During the festival, films are accompanied by discussions with the audience, workshops, panel discussions as well as professional meetings or a wide section for film professionals. The six festival days are followed by a systematic all-year effort at further promotion and reflection of the documentary film. Festival echoes as well as regular screenings of selected films in partner cinemas are supplemented by expert publication activities. Within the last thirteen years, IDFF Jihlava has accomplished its motto „Thinking through film!“ More at www.dokument-festival.cz

Planete Doc Review Warsaw The PLANETE DOC REVIEW Festival presents a selection of outstanding documentaries from the last 18 months, as well as thematic sections linked to discussion panels. The organisers believe that documentary may be a connecting factor with high-profile film art, as well as a reason for deeper reflection upon the world today. Therefore, it can influence both opinion and behaviour, and may also be a factor in triggering change. Criteria for selection is the principle of high film culture and originality of style. Within the festival, we try to present documentary films and artistic trends such as radio documentaries, photography, literary reportage etc, and the programme for professionals will be constantly extended.
